Anyways, nice work, I love the fluffy hair. XD But damn...he's got some bulled legs.
I do most of my colouring on multiply layers. With a white background like this it will behave exactly like painting /under/ the black linework..
Multiply x a layer's RGB value by whatever it's "above" so it can only make things /darker/ - but.. everything is darker than white, and nothing is darker than black, so it's perfect for stuff like this.
They're really useful, esp for cell stuff:
Make one layer above your multiply layer into another multiply layer, apply one color to the bottom one and the same colour in overlapping parts on the upper one..
Instant lazy shadows.
